Cop Racism: More Black People shot 'Accidentally'

I truly thought I would be covering something else today. Random and exciting. Sadly I saw this in the morning and felt I had to share it. Now I understand that being a police officer is a very hard job to take on and respect anyone who does so. But these kind of shootings need to stop. Like one of those says in The Young Turks video, cops have both lethal and non-lethal weapons for a reason. It is coming to a point where I genuinely believe people need to form some kind of private neighborhood watch force and only call cops when there is a lethal criminal in their mist. There were also at least two serious instances last year (including one where the man was still in his car) where lethal shooting of white people by cops were blatantly unnecessary. So while yes it has been mostly reported to be happening to black people, no race is completely safe from this. There needs to be action and juries need to stop letting these cops go with a slap on the wrist. The question should not be if the shooting was intentional or not but with all the training cops get was a gun necessary in the situation at all. I mean tasers and batons and etc. are there aside from the gun for a reason.

Well that's my thoughts and the video I saw is below. Let me know what you think and be safe my friends over the holidays. Of every race.

Merry Christmas!

No matter how you Celebrate Christmas I wish you a wonderful holiday and a prosperous New Year. I will be back blogging on Monday the 28th.

Personally my family and I will be celebrating the birth of Jesus and enjoying some excellent home cooking. Nice to relax with your parents when neither you or your siblings have kids. Quiet.

P.S. : Over the holidays like any other day of the year sometimes stupid arguments pop up. For example.

Source: Saw it on Facebook

Please try to rise above the fray or come up with a cute answer if you must. Here's mine below. Happy Holidays and this meme popped up on a debate on if the song White Christmas is racist.

Note:  I am black and since White Christmas deals with snow all I can think for other colors is this. Pink - Someone throwing a streamer in your face. Black - Tar? Yellow: Rain I will not step out in. Blue: Shit the sky is falling! Run! Red: Someone got their eye poked out by that bitch throwing skittles. Green: Who just threw grass? So at the end of the day I'll just stick with White Christmas.

Summary from The Book Depository: There's no place like home. Especially if home is the infamous Isle of the Lost. Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay haven't exactly turned their villainous noses up at the comforts of Auradon after spending their childhoods banished on the Isle. After all, meeting princes and starring on the Tourney team aren't nearly as terrible as Mal and her friends once thought they would be. But when they receive a mysterious invitation to return to the Isle, Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay can't help feeling comfortable in their old hood-and their old ways. Not everything is how they left it, though, and when they discover a dark mystery at the Ise's core, they'll have to combine all of their talents in order to save the kingdom.

I really enjoyed the television movie and got the first book soon after. The characters are fun to follow and it will be very interesting to see what they get up to in this upcoming book.

Waiting on Wednesday: Passengers by Alexandra Bracken

Waiting on Wednesday is held weekly by Breaking the Spine. This event spotlights upcoming releases bloggers are anxiously awaiting to get their hands on.

This week's pick only recently caught my radar. But the story just has a certain kick that has me intrigued and ready to devour.

Book: Passengers by Alexandra Bracken

Release Date: January 5, 2016

Summary (The Book Depository) In one devastating night, violin prodigy Etta Spencer loses everything she knows and loves. Thrust into an unfamiliar world by a stranger with a dangerous agenda, Etta is certain of only one thing: she has traveled not just miles, but years from home. And she's inherited a legacy she knows nothing about from a family whose existence she's never heard of. Until now. Nicholas Carter is content with his life at sea, free from the Ironwoods-a powerful family in the Colonies-and the servitude he's known at their hands. But with the arrival of an unusual passenger on his ship comes the insistent pull of the past that he can't escape and the family that won't let him go so easily. Now the Ironwoods are searching for a stolen object of untold value, one they believe only Etta, his passenger, can find. In order to protect her, Nick must ensure she brings it back to them-whether she wants to or not. Together, Etta and Nicholas embark on a perilous journey across centuries and continents, piecing together clues left behind by the traveler who will do anything to keep the object out of the Ironwoods' grasp. But as they get closer to the truth of their search, and the deadly game the Ironwoods are playing, treacherous forces threaten to separate Etta not only from Nicholas but from her path home forever.

Reviews that came with the summary "I was truly transported through this novel, a willing passenger pulled through its pages alongside riveting, romantic characters and an immense world with no end in sight. Fans of Outlander will see so much of Claire in Etta, who holds a smart and headstrong lens to history. I can't wait to voyage through the next volume." -Victoria Aveyard, #1 New York Times best-selling author of Red Queen "Grabs you by the heart from its opening notes and doesn't let go until its knockout, blockbuster finale." -Sarah J. Maas, New York Times best-selling author of the Throne of Glass series "This time-traveling adventure is rich in detail, the slowburning relationship between Etta and Nicholas will leave many readers breathless, and the startling cliffhanger will reel them back for the next installment." -Booklist "[Passenger] doesn't let up its high-octane pace until the final page. . . [A] strong new series." -School Library Journal "Bracken keeps pages turning." -Kirkus Reviews "[A] rousing series opener. . . The clever historical allusions, well-crafted subplots, and cliffhanger ending should leave readers awaiting the next volume." -Publishers Weekly

30 Seconds Promo and Apology

One of the sad realities of blogging is missing out or breaking promises. In November I was among the bloggers who gladly offered to help promote an upcoming sale for 30 Seconds by Chrys Fey. I was back in the blogging fray and ready to help. Unfortunately November turned out to not be exactly the perfect month with fatigue issues, watching a bad flu and getting diarrhea...twice. So I ended up missing the sale completely and Chrys's email sat on unnoticed. By the time I recalled it...yeah. I felt bad. But decided after some thinking to just do a regular promo for her book. As bloggers we are still human and will make mistakes. What we should do though after that is try to make up for it however we can.

30 Seconds Promotion

Blurb:
When Officer Blake Herro agreed to go undercover in the Mob, he thought he understood the risks. But he's made mistakes and now an innocent woman has become their target. He's determined to protect her at all costs.

The Mob's death threat turns Dr. Dani Hart's life upside down, but there is one danger she doesn’t anticipate. As she's dodging bullets, she's falling in love with Blake. With danger all around them, will she and Blake survive and have a happy ending, or will the Mob make good on their threat?

Excerpt:

She had no time to react when a strong force bowled her through the doorway of her apartment, and a large hand plastered over her mouth. The man she had bumped into on the stairs had a firm grip on her as he kicked the door closed behind them. She struggled to get free, but his hold kept her back pressed against his chest.
“It’s okay. I’m a cop. My name is Blake Herro.” He hauled her into the living room. “There are six armed men coming up the stairs. We need to hide. Where can we hide?”
Her mind went blank, she even forgot about the ice cream.
“Where?” he demanded with a quick shake.
She pointed to the six-foot long, three-foot high handcrafted cedar chest she used for a coffee table. Officer Herro pulled her to it and flung open the lid.
“Get in,” he ordered.

Movie Chat

Hey everyone hope you are having a lovely Friday. Today I am just going to write about the movies I have seen recently since October.

Source: Wikipedia

I saw this movie in October and I really enjoyed it. HOT2 brought back the old gang along with some new characters namely Mavis and Johnny's son Dennis. A lot of the story has to do with Dracula not wanting Mavis to leave the hotel because she fear's for Dennis's safety since he is yet to become a vampire. If you loved the first movie I am sure you will probably like this too, Me personally I loved it. All the comedy, drama and characters were spot on. There were even some dark parts including a scary possession scene you need to see to believe.

Peanuts (2015 film)

Source: Wikipedia

What can I say? Blue Sky did a fantastic job bringing the Peanut gang to life. Charlie Brown was Charlie Brown and Snoopy...damn he sort of stole the show a bit but in a good way. I don't want to give too much away so I will just say this movie was beyond amazing. One of the best animated movies of the year behind Inside Out (and if you didn't like Inside Out I would definitely recommend this to you if you like Animated Movies or Peanuts. If you liked it, go for it still). Oh and I will just say keep an eye out for a certain female character who pretty much reminds us of why Charlie Brown is such a wonderful character at heart. The feels man.

But there is one gripe I have and it is not with the movie. It is actually with movie makers. STOP NOT PROMOTING YOUR STUFF BEYOND FIRST WORLD COUNTRIES! Yes there might be some promotion but almost all is in that one set of top countries. Which is ironic since in some of them movie goers numbers are actually dropping. I can't tell you how many times I just don't understand why places like the Caribbean are not getting more Skype chats from stars of movies or directors. Especially with movies that need that extra oomph which Blue Sky Studios needs since they are not as well known as Dreamworks Animation or Pixar. It saddens me when I see the low number of money made internationally for this movie. Peanuts is a way of life for some people and I know a lot of people in Jamaica did read the comics as kids or watch the show. In fact a lot of people did come when I did. But Peanuts had been regulated to one of the smaller Aud. rooms even with movies like Suffragette being there. Why? Because there is not enough promotion done to make it seem like that many people will come.

Home (Dreamworks Animation movie) when I went to see it weeks after it came out was still airing in one of the large Aud. rooms? Why? Because it got a lot of praise for having a black starring character who was also from the Caribbean and a girl. Not something that happened very often and Rihanna definitely helped boost the appeal. Plus Dreamworks Animation is super popular and well known. But Peanuts and Blue Sky Studios does not have that advantage and while I love this movie like crazy it is disappointing to see it struggle to even make double it's nearly 100 mill budget. Hollywood needs to recognize the need for worldwide promotion. Seeing stars through cable is no longer enough. Internet is king now get on foreign third world channels and websites to expand your damn audience. I mean seriously.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2

Source: Wikipedia

I saw this movie this past Tuesday. This one is the best of the bunch for me. While I have heard complaints about not enough action and so on. I was taken by the characters, dialogue, visuals....it was wonderful in my eyes and I would recommend anyone go see it (unless you just hate Hunger Games then no, leave that hate away from the audience thank you). Katniss is back in this epic conclusion and damn does she take some blows both figuratively and literally. President Coin also shines but a different sort of way. Let's just say when I saw a top 5 Wednesday on Youtube about characters you would want to drown. She is pretty much the Professor Umbridge of Hunger Games to me. Snow might be the main adversary but that woman...I love to hate Snow. Coin...no. For anyone who thinks YA movies are only about romance and childish happy ending plots...you need to go see this movie and get your mind blown. Things happen in this movie okay. There is even a scene straight out of a horror movie. Oh my God. I will stop right here before I tell the entire movie. But yeah, I highly recommend this one.

So thanks for coming in to read my little movie chat and know I appreciate all you who stop by. To my blogging friends and the rest of the community I give all my love and wish you a lifetime of happiness. See you on Monday guys!

IWSG: December is here

Another IWSG has arrived and we all get to share our insecurities and other feelings with the world. Today though I am just glad to be back on the blogging front. Plus Check this Blog Out is back and each day I add up to five blog posts from around the web that I think you should take a look see.

However we are also in the month of December which means Christmas is just around the corner. Also my birthday came and went on Sunday. I didn't anything special that day but yesterday I treated my mother (and myself, no lie) to an evening feature of Mockingjay Part 2. We had a great time and that movie was a lovely send off to both an amazing book and movie franchise (I know they plan to do more movies in the future but for now this is the end). Now if only the Divergent movies could step up their game. A lot.

So thanks for stopping by. My next post will be on Friday and next week I will be starting book reviews again. I know exciting right?

And yes I mentioned December without any Christmasy images or gifs. It is only Dec. 2. I am not the radio. We all know what has started playing already from October right? It gets annoying fast and I am not doing that here.

New Laptop and Civil War Trailer

Yesterday was my birthday and it was a pretty ordinary day. No huge fanfare or anything. But wait...there was something special this year. One I am now thirty one and two...I now have a brand spanking new laptop! Yes folks on Friday I finally got a new fully functioning HP laptop. Now I can do all my work, keep up with you guys and yes...I can blog again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wooooh!!!!!!!!!!! Great news huh?

Civil War Trailer

Now one of my biggest movie mistakes was not going to see Captain America: Winter Soldier in theaters.

I vowed that the next Captain America movie was one I would not first see sitting at home. Last week has proven my decision to be the right one. When I saw the new trailer for Civil War my draw dropped and my mind just went...it was wild. May 2016 is going to be epic.

Youtube and I were best friends that day. Oh my goodness the trailer was flawless and gave Batman vs. Superman a good kick in the teeth as far as I am concerned.

Now I am not a Marvel or DC fanfirl, my interest is in supporting movies that I love. Batman vs. Superman trailer just did not suck me in like Suicide Squad's trailer did. But the Civil War trailer did folks and so much so that there will be something special for Batman vs. Superman fans during tonight (I think) episode of Gotham on Fox. At least according to Tyrone Magnus on Youtube. If you are not familiar with this franchise I am leaving a few videos further down starting with the crazy amazing trailer.

While some people are complaining that a certain teen hero did not pop up I believe all the crazy action, melodrama, and of course Black Panther coming through is more than enough.

This movie is not just about action but about the characters, the decisions they make and those dark consequences that result there of.

Discussion

Tyrone Magnus

Please note for some reason this video won't show but I am leaving a link if you want to see Tyrone's reaction to the Civil War Trailer. Click Tyrone's Reaction.

However at the end of the day we all want to know how things will end for Cap and Bucky.

Much love, God Bless. Thank you for stopping by my blog today.

IWSG: The Writing Life

A writer's work is never done. The decision to lead such a life is filled with awe and headaches. But the pain is worth it my friends. Not in the end because for a writer there really is no end. Only new begginings. This month my focus goes between the writing for my freelance work and my own works whether for future publishing or just leisure. Yes writers we are allowed to write things never to see the light of day beyond our bedroom/book/computer/imagination.

This month will be another filled with both happiness and woe as the words either flow or struggle to come. But either way what I will not do is allow them to stop. Yes there will be breaks but those will not he allowed to become procrastination points. No fears to share this month because I am staring them down and telling them that I am unafraid and even though that is bull shit, I feel better claiming that anyway. Fear can only stop you if you let it and I won't. I hope whatever life you lead whether that of a writer or something else, you won'tmorew fear to stop you either. I love the writing life yet know my life has so much more in it. That only makes me appreciate this life even molre because I know I chose it. Choose wisely my friends and wishing you all the best. God Bless.

WEP Halloween Challenge: A Rotten Legacy

Please Note: I will reserve all other posts for next week. So enjoy this jem until Monday. Thank you.

Today I am sharing my entry into the WEP Halloween Challenge: Youthful Frights VS Adult Fears. This challenge runs until Friday. For more info read on below then go unto my entry. A Rotten Legacy was a story I wrote a while back with intent to expand on it. But now I think it makes a cool short story with creepy undertones. You decide.

For this challenge, share a childhood fright that might or did turn into an adult fear, real or imagined.

To start the fun you can:
1.    share a favorite frightening tale, movie, novel, photograph or painting that will leave us quaking in our boots
2.    in a short paragraph describe how it scared you, and why it did and or still does today
3.    then you can:
a.    submit your own scary piece, 1000 words or less, in any format or
b.    share a photograph or painting that captures the horror you've felt.

The movie that scared me as a child. Back in the hey day of VHS I saw this movie and it scared both my brother and I. I think it even got to my mother who generally enjoys horror movies.

1. The Horror Show

Source: Wikipedia

Plot: Detective Lucas McCarthy (Lance Henriksen) finally catches the serial killer named "Meat Cleaver Max" (Brion James) who killed over 100 people and watches his execution. McCarthy and the others watching the execution are shocked to see the electric chair send enough voltage through him to physically burn Max's body before finally dying. Max, however, has made a deal with the devil in order to return from the grave and frame Lucas for a series of grisly murders. He also scares the McCarthy family (who have moved into a new house) and the parapsychologist they hire. Lucas' only hope of stopping Max for good is to destroy his spirit before Max destroys his life and family.

2. Why it scared me: This movie was freaking insane! If you believe in spirits like I do it makes the whole thing fifty times as scary. I have had experiences with ghost in the past and I would never want to meet the spirit of Meat Cleaver Max. Once my cousin and I saw something ghostly reaching for us from palm trees. When you see it with someone else it makes the whole thing real. This happened after I became an adult and long after I saw this movie. But I still believe evil is out there on both the physical and spiritual plane. So this movie holds an extra fear in it for me.

3 a - Story: A Rotten Legacy

Rotten Incorporated was the business that supplied the best toys and gadgets for pranks and other acts of trickery. Whoopee cushions that passed stinky gas, flamethrowers that will set your target ablaze but not burn them (at least not extensively), food eating utensils, metal eating hammers and so much more.

The owner Marty Rotten was the latest in the line of Rotten’s to run the factory. Every Rotten was raised to believe they had a chance to own the factory, no matter how small. Despite being fourth in line, most of his siblings had forfeiting their birthright.  Choosing instead to pursuit other interests and passions in order to better fit in with society.

But alas the Rotten family wasn’t loved in their town of Unruffled Feathers. The townsfolk of Unruffled Feathers hated their feathers to be ruffled. And that’s exactly what Rotten Inc. did. Every new prank performed almost always traced back to the use of one the business’s latest invention.
Red haired Marty grew up an outcast in the community. So did his siblings before him and the ones after. They often got into fights and were placed in private school where though less frequent, the treatment wasn’t much better. He was the first to suggest home schooling for some of their studies and eventually most of the children were educated at home.

Yet even those changes didn’t ease the feelings of being set apart and overtime the children of Reginald and Glenda Rotten got fed up. Whether by forfeit or other means, one by one they left the family business behind.

Claude the eldest exited with a bullet. With his death only six children were left to inherit the family business. Susan Rotten married a Baron and requested her parents blessing to move to France. Two years younger than Claude, her mother Jennifer was hesitant to grant it. Reginald however let his seventeen year old daughter go without a second thought. “I have no use for those not interested in helping the Rotten Legacy live on.”

Next Martin fell devastatingly ill. His father complained that he was just weak willed. The third in line soon after moved to Africa and never returned.

Fifth in line, Mary Rotten married a deacon at The Unruffled Feathers Church of Family Values and Order. She willingly forfeited her inheritance and disappeared into the town’s moral elite.
The next in line became an engineer for the navy. From a young age, Gordon Rotten made it clear he had no interest in joining the family business.

And the seventh in line but no doubt the craftiest and prank loving child, Gwendolyn Rotten. No one loved playing tricks and trying to create new ones more than her. She and Marty played many pranks on the unsuspecting townspeople. But one day she got a dark wake up call. At age twelve she confessed to losing several metal eating hammers which then went off and ate a jungle gym.

Unfortunately there were children playing on it and some got hurt. One even died. Despite the awfulness of the situation she was deemed too young to face the consequences and everything fell to her father to correct.

Reginald humbly apologized to the town and grieving families. He even compensated the parents of the injured children and paid for the deceased funerals. Then he turned on his own daughter. Declaring her a fool and a disgrace he refused to speak to or acknowledge her in anyway. She became withdrawn and sullen always begging for her father’s forgiveness. At age seventeen she was found and the bottom of the staircase unconscious. She was taken to the hospital then transferred to a sanatorium never to be heard of again.

At age twenty-five, Marty Rotten took over the family business. His mother tried to leave his father but he was able to patch things up between them and she returned. Now he is in charge of Rotten Inc. and every drop of the Rotten Legacy.

A rotten legacy indeed.

Look Who's Back!

So happy to be back online today. It's funny how we take the simple things for granted in life. Right now it brings me close to tears to be a regular blogger again. Life and my own decisions kept me off for a bit but now I believe I have things under control? So on day one of being officially back I just want to say thank you to all who visit my blogvand extra to those who comment and keep in touch.

Right now I am excited to say I have become a regular on twitter and recently went to over 800 followers. I used to be more active on Facebook but hardly got any attention despite my best efforts. Twitter has been a different matter. Not only have I been communicating with others but I even get requests to check out videos on YouTube and so on. It has been an exciting ride being noticed. Plus I have also been tweeting regularly with a few of my fave shows and got noticed and followed by Limitless writers as well as the Burn movie who also noticed my tweets. Not to mention being favorites on multiple episodes by Cle Bennett when I tweet with Heroes Reborn. So you can say I feel good on the social media front. I plan to slowly integrate myself more into this but baby steps.

So I am a happy camper and glad to be back with my blogger peeps. Everyday this week will have a post. Next week and onwards will be twice a week or more. So I an ready to chat with and entertain you. Have a great day. Quick question though..Am I the only one excited that there is officially a Descendants 2 in the works? Oh and also Incredibles 2. 😉

Everyday and September Nano

Have to thank Jay Noel whose post today I Can't Feel My Face inspired me to do a slightly longer post today. At first it was only going to be about my nano but now there will also be music. You all love music right?

I knew it, let's go!

A song that I heard over the weekend and got me thinking quite a bit was Everyday by ASAP Rocky feat. Rod Stewart, Miguel and Mark Ronson. How much do I enjoy and think about this song? I got to memorizing all these names by the second viewing (of the credits) on televsion. Yes I am still one of those strange people who keep forgetting to just go on Youtube. I did look online later but that was to check out what the song was about. Yes, still have not looked it up on Youtube but you can now with the video below.

I thought it was really brave of ASAP to use his own life as an example of how the rap game can go terribly wrong. I know others have done this but there is just something very genuine and personal about the video and it's lyrics. Drugs, alcohol and hard partying are not all fun and games and exposing this while being a rapper who does it can be both jarring and telling of the kind of person you truly are. This is a song that should go down as one of the greats. I have so many thoughts and feelings still swimming around inside me even now.

Oh and now Benedict Cumberbatch has truly been in everything including on my blog. Yay.

September Nano

Thanks to a lovely invite from Jennie Bennett to anyone wanting to join a September Nano I have two spanking new projects. Will not go into deep detail but I do need a little help. I have been jumping between titles on one.

The quick tagline right now is: For everyone who hated Twilight or even liked it a little bit.

By the way I love Twilight but get the reason why some people don't. My novel idea was not inspired by that book but something in me told me that it could satisfy those who felt Twilight romanticized vampires too much or that Bella was...wooden.

Right now I am stuck between three titles (A-C).

(A) My Vampire Ex-Boyfriend is Trying to Kill Me

The original title at the start but i started to feel that it was too one dimensional. Yes it is also long but so was the full titles of the Harry Potter books. When the book is awesome, readers don't care.

(B) A Bloody Gamble

Because it was a gamble if my protagonist would survive the change. Also I kind of wanted a title that left some mystery.

(C) Bloody Gamble

Same as B but without the 'A' since the book has the protagonist gambling on more than one thing.

(D) Broken Promises

Sounds more like a Lifetime movie so I am thinking no. Thought it was good for a second because of well..broken promises in the novel.

So what do you guys think? I know that I am being kind of vague but it is a paranormal YA novel and I plan to make it a stand alone. Also my protagonist is not going to be some kick ass one 'girl' army. She will need help and advice. Sorry but even Katniss had a mass of people behind her from start to finish. We can't all be Black Widow who can team up or go solo whenever.

Whoever made this poster, more power to you. You are awesome.

Thanks for popping by and this image below has nothing to do with this post. I just love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and if this is true I love Mikey aheam, Michelangelo even more. Have a wonderful day my lovelies!
